KARI FULMEK
Kari is the founder of Equine Connection and one of the world’s leading instructors in Equine Assisted Learning with integrated business training. She helps people turn their love of horses into meaningful, ethical work that supports both humans and horses while building a real, sustainable business.
With a background in leadership, sales, and large-scale team management, including leading over 700 volunteers at one of Canada’s largest rodeos, Kari understands what it takes to guide people, build confidence, and create real-world results. She has spent her life helping others find their voice, step into courage, and live their purpose now, not someday.
Kari’s work is rooted in a deep respect for horses as sentient teachers. She believes horses must feel safe to teach, and that learning happens best when we work in the horse’s language rather than our own. This belief shapes every part of Equine Connection and the lifelong support that follows.
Founded in 2009, Equine Connection was created from Kari’s passion for horses, people, and purpose. Her philosophy is simple: she is not successful until you are. Her motto says it all: “If it’s not hard, it’s not your dream.”
CAROLYN CHARLES
Carolyn Charles was born and raised in Calgary and started her career in Public Affairs with the Calgary Police Service, where her job was basically to stay calm, communicate clearly, and find the good in people even when chaos hit the fan. After bouncing through graphic design and a law firm, she landed at Strathmore Heritage Days in 2007 and met Kari… and the rest is history.
A proud skeptic by nature, Carolyn once thought the idea of horses helping humans sounded questionable at best. Then she actually experienced it. With zero horse experience and a whole lot of doubt, she watched these giant, opinionated animals do what no person ever could: help her find her worth, her voice, and her strength during one of the hardest chapters of her life. And she got to watch them do the same thing for every client that entered the arena.
Now, she’s all in. As a facilitator, Carolyn gets to help people have the same big “aha” moments she once did. Horses have made her a better mom, daughter, partner, and human… and she still can’t believe her job involves real-life unicorns.
